Walden Student Reflection
As a Walden student, I am a much improved individual. I have learned so much about humanities and technology since I began going to school at Walden. I now realized that to understand people you have to really listen to what they are saying. Sometimes people will say one thing and deep down on the inside they are trying to convey a deeper meaning to what they are feeling. As I read “Looking At Technology Through Women’s Eyes”, I was able to get a greater understanding of how hard it is for women to achieve on an equal level in careers that predominately caters to men. Walden has given me insight on different areas in technology through Walden’s Library Database. Being an avid reader, I enjoyed reading the passages and looking at the videos to get greater understanding of how both men and women felt about modern technology. These tools and the support that I get at Walden give me confidence in myself as a student. I don’t have to be afraid to strive for the best. I know that there is always someone just a phone call or an email away to give me a helping hand. Through the assessments, I learned that even though I’ve come a long way with online classes, there is so much I need to learn about the use of computers. I know how …show more content…
The principal there is a great mentor. Not only does she support me in my educational efforts, but she is also going to school now to go even further in her career path. The fact that she already has multiple degrees but still strives to go further has a positive impact on me. Her inspiration motivates me do well at Walden so that I can achieve my degree. It just goes to show that no matter what age you are, you are never too old to learn. I think that I can be a mentor to others by continuing to do the best that I can. I can show them that if a sixty year old grandmother can do online classes to achieve her degree, than they can do it

The main argument this book explores is not between humanists and scientists, but between technology and everybody else. Most people believe that technology is a friend. It is a friend that asks for trust and obedience, which most give because its gifts are bountiful. The dark side it that it creates a culture without moral foundation, undermines certain mental processes and social relations that make human life worth living. Technology is both a friend and enemy. The book tries to explain when, how and why technology became a particularly dangerous enemy.…

There is a fine line between utopia and dystopia. Both work towards group prosperity, order, and self-sustenance, but the methods they use to achieve these goals make all the difference—the difference between a society that takes advantage of the individual, and one that is centered on the individual’s well-being. Though the societies of Walden Two and Anthem have similar aims, Walden Two’s benevolence and City of Anthem’s tyranny lead the two communities to take very different shapes.…

To better understand how we relate ourselves to the technology we have nowadays and the technology that we have been exposed to in the past, we first analyze the book “Beyond Humanity” by Allen Buchanan. In this book, Buchanan explain enficices the idea that technological improvements are not new to us, he says “... to enhance human beings is to expand their capabilities- to enable them to do what normal human beings have hitherto not been able to do. Understood in this way, enhancement is ubiquitous in human history.” (Buchanan 38). These enhancements have always played a great role on our biological changes. For example, literature as one of these enhancements allowed us to communicate information more efficiently, it allowed us to store more information than our brains ever could; this came at a cost, because we are able to write down information or communicate it easier, our…

In Tugend). The early 1980’s saw both an economic recession and the growth of computer-based technology, which meant an increase in the need for computer skills on the job before there were college courses available for this same skill set. My experience has shown that the need for computer skills and the ability to obtain these skills outside of a college atmosphere still holds true. However, learning-as-you-go often also leaves out important base principals that would have been taught in a classroom setting.…

The behavioral practices shown in Walden Two produce a self reliant and efficient adult. The first topic that I felt strongly about was education. The way education is viewed in Frazier’s utopian world is brilliant. Compared to the Walden Two educational system I find the grade-based school system slightly barbaric. The second topic that interested me is adolescent reproduction, which was encouraged in Walden Two also. It interested me on how Frazier structured the educational system in the minds of adolescents and how they can handle the weight of parenthood.…

Computers and education are permanently bound, and any educational structure must incorporate them into their plan. Nearly every job in the real world uses some form of computer and it is imperative for students to familiarize themselves with this shift. The internet makes it possible for students to not have to associate learning in a classroom, as courses can be attended in any environment, whether it be at home or in the library. Without the physical confines students have much more enthusiasm for their subjects (Koch, 2014). This can make the teacher’s job easier and the student’s assignments more rewarding as the software programs take novel approaches toward…

In the short story, Mrs Wilson seems, to me at least, to be a bit old fashioned – something that isn't quite so odd, considering the story was written in the 1940's. I can imagine her being the typical housewife, struggling in the kitchen, gossiping and worrying with the neighbourhood women and fussing over minor details concerning her precious son, Johnny. However, her temper can get the best of her, creating tension and thus leaving a situation next to unbearable. In the story's situation I know I would find it unbearable – by sheer awkwardness!…
