wall switches and light fixtures in a building
current in a circuit preventing the conduction of electricity from one conductor to another.Wall switches are switches that are most commonly used in managing the light fixtures and permanent devices or equipment. Switches are connected using different methods such as three-way and four-way switches, grounded conductors and switches controlling light loads. The three-way and four-way connection method is simply used to create lights that operate using more than one switches; mostly done to change the states of light (Brain, 2009). Grounded conductors method is when the switch does not disconnect the grounded conductor of the circuit. The switches controlling light loads are supplied by a grounded general purpose circuit and are connected such that the circuit conductor is available at the switch location (NFPA, 2011). The wall switches have to be located in quickly accessible places, they have to be installed such that the highest position of the switch's center of the grip of the managing handle is never more than 2.0 m above the floor or the stand. In damp or wet locations, the switch has to enclosed in a weatherproof case or cabinet (NFPA, 2011). switches should not be installed inside tubs or shower places. The wall switches come in various shapes and designs, but they generally consist of a metal conducting plate and insulating plates to cover it. Wall switches are constructed of metal faceplates that is to be made out of ferrous metals not less than 0.76 mm in thickness or non ferrous metals not less than 1.02 mm in thickness, and the insulating face plates are made out of an insulating non combustible material not less than 2.54 mm in thickness (NFPA, 2011). The light fixtures of the place usually determines the location of the switch to help get the most efficient lighting for the place. For residential places, all the rooms light fixtures must be on a 15-amp circuit. A wall switch has to be placed near every room entry door and a receptacle has to be

Switches are much like a bridge where they can connect networks that use the same protocols. They are used to direct traffic over multiple networks. Some switches will check the data packets for errors before sending them to their final destination. This is for a low to medium traffic network. A higher traffic network may want to use a cross point switch which will just forward the data packets to their final destination.…

    The Working of Wires

INTRODUCTION Electricity is usually invisible. Except for lightning and sparks, you never see it in daily life. However, light bulbs and a magnetic compass can show you when something electrical is happening. By observing their behavior and making a few assumptions, you can begin forming ideas about electricity. This type of thinking is called “building a model”. INVESTIGATION ONE: WHAT IS NEEDED TO LIGHT A BULB? 1.1 Activity: Lighting bulbs in a loop Insert three D-cells into the battery holder (as in Figure 1.1), and insert two ROUND bulbs (not long bulbs) into a pair of sockets. Use three wires to connect the sockets to each other and to the two “terminals” of the battery holder: 1) the spring inside the case near the red spot, and 2) the metal post on the outside of the case near the blue spot. The bulbs should light and be of similar brightness. The battery, bulbs and wires now form a “closed loop”.…

Copper wire is found in most household electric or electrical related devices. One advantage of copper wire is its conductivity. Copper wire is second only to silver wire in level of conductivity meaning it will accept a current more so than almost any other type of wire. Copper wire is also heat resistant and can handle high levels of charge without many issues with overloading the wire. Copper in itself is also resistant to corrosion. This helps keep it working even when the material is tarnished. Copper also has a great amount of ductility. This also for it to be very thin and still work, also this allows for copper to be twisted, bent and otherwise shaped into almost any form without the threat of the wire snapping. A weakness with copper materials is that it does not respond very well to small minute amounts of electrical charge.…

Residential landscape lighting serves two functions- functional and aesthetic purposes. As a homeowner, design company, or a professional contractor, installing landscape lighting goes beyond adding some pretty lights; it is a valuable investment to the property. And it brings a return on the landscape investment to homeowners, most of whom are scarcely at home during the day except at night to behold the beautiful landscaping of the building.…

    The Heart of Darkness

Heart of Darkness is a novel of indescribable horrors and actions that lie outside the human mind. It describes a mans (Marlow) voyage on a west African river to find an a man named Kurtz. The actual journey truly is towards the "heart of darkness", where it takes Marlow by evidence of European indignity towards the natives. He wants to see this land for himself, he does not quite believe in himself of what is really there. This story hints at horrors that Marlow is incapable of describing, which leaves the reader to imagine actions that are outside of normal everyday life. The voyage that Marlow has taken has been long and exhausting. It's an adventure for him. He has experienced a great deal of confrontation with the natives, jungle dangers and savagery. There is no interest of the humans who live here and they are extremely mistreated. To them this is normal human behavior. Nothing has been done differently. Nowhere did we stop long enough to get a particular impression, but there was general sense of wonder. "It was like a weary pilgrimage amongst hints for nightmares". This describes Marlow's voyage to the "heart of darkness", the literal heart of darkness: Africa. He was fully warned and well-aware of the evil he would encounter, however he chose to ignore that in effort to satisfy his curiosity. The author is also saying something about human nature. Human curiosity about an unknown place can make him cross the line of civilized human behavior and enter a world of nightmares. Marlow wanted to see it for himself, but what made it most fascinating was this land was something he had never experienced before. He knew he would be a "weary pilgrimage amongst hints for nightmares" but he wanted to prove something to himself that could remain doubtable if not seen. There is a persistence of the human instinct that pushes people to try to find the unknown and calm their deepest desires and questions. To actually see and experience the unknown are the only true ways…
