Walt Disney's Life And Accomplishments
Walter Elias Disney has had an interest in drawing and coloring and was passionate to achieve his goals. Walt Disney was born on December 5, 1901 in Chicago, Illinois and grew up in a farm helping his father. “At the farm there were animals that were later shown in his Disney cartoons” (Gale 1). Walt Disney has had a fascinating drawing since childhood and he did not give up his passion. “Disney dropped out of high school to serve in World War I, but later acquired some rudimentary art instruction from correspondence courses and Saturday Museum classes” (Gale 1-2). “In 1925, Disney hired an ink-and-paint artist named Lillian Bounds. After a brief courtship, the couple married” (Biography.com 3). Walt Disney had a happy family with his wife, children and his brother Roy. Walt Disney was caring toward everyone, and helped others in need. His major life choices were featuring his own work and creating Disneyland. “A few years later, Walt Disney discovered that Winkler and her husband, Charles Mintz, had stolen the rights to Oswald, along with all of Disney’s animators, except for Iwerks. Right away the Disney brothers, their wives and Iwerks produced three cartoons featuring a new character Walt had been developing called Mickey Mouse” (Biography.com 3). The people who Walt Disney was working with had betrayed. so he had to make his own choices and had to feature his first cartoon on his own. That was a hard time because he never had any experience and he did not know how people will accept his new character. However, people accepted Mickey Mouse and became part of history of cartoons. Another project was Disneyland. “Disney's $17 million Disneyland theme park opened on July 17, 1955, in Anaheim, California. After a tumultuous opening day involving several mishaps (including the distribution of thousands of counterfeit invitations), the site became known as a place where children and their families could explore, enjoy rides and meet the Disney characters” (Biography.com 3).
