Walton's Constellation In The USA
His fire was a bluff of life in the withering carcass of his company. Walton stood staring at the sands around him. The dunes rose and fell with the hypnotic rhythm of ocean waves, gusts of wind scattering the nighttime sand through the air like a silver whip. Above him the sky opened in a vast display of constellations he had forgotten the names of, each star pulsing a small but vibrant light.

"The Cold passed reluctantly from the earth, and the retiring fogs revealed an army stretched out on the hills, resting. As the landscape changed from brown to green, the army awakened, and began to tremble with eagerness at the noise of rumors. It cast its eyes upon the roads, which were growing from long troughs of liquid mud to proper thoroughfares. A river, amber-tinted in the shadow of its banks, purled at the army’s feet; and at night, when the stream hand become of sorrowful blackness, one could see across it the red , eyelike gleam of hostile campfires set in the low brows of distant hills.”…

You have been warned! Dusk was creeping away in the horizon leaving a fresh wound smeared across the face of the sky. Decayed marshes emanated a sour scent; forming a revolting tempest in my nostrils that cascaded like shattered glass through my windpipe. A foreboding aurora dissipated every ounce of bravery in my heart and displaced it with an unprecedented trepidation.…

Her blouse was gone, replaced by a simple black dress. As soon as she got up to look around, she noticed that the environment around her was entirely different than that of the drive-in restuarant or her house. The sky was black, encompassed by large glowing rings of what looked to be ancient texts, and on its horizon was a rather large-looking moon. Connie felt oddly calm in this place, the red grass contrasted nicely with the dark sky. As she scanned her surrounding she found a path leading down.…

Entire scores of trees and flora cleared by the skidding impact leaving a barren trail to the darkened crater where the ominous lights leaked. When we neared the orchard a flock of birds lit from its outer rows. They hadn’t been there long. The branches shook with their absent weight and the birds circled above in the ruddy mackerel sky, where they made an artless semaphore. I was afraid. I smelled copper and cheep wine. The sun was up, but a half-moon hung low on the opposite horizon, cutting through the morning sky like a figure from a child’s pull-tab book.…

We hit a clearing and drop, the world spinning around us, soft grass comforting our throbbing body, the smell. The smell, what is it? It’s new and fresh. We open our eyes and are stunned by the sight. The darkness drowns us, but it is softened by something beautiful overhead; stars, all of them, completely beautiful, each one on its own and every one together. Simply magnificent. We close our eyes and relax, as it seems for the first time in our life, we are completely at peace. Before we know it, its…

A thousand fires burned on the faded green hills around me, hot smoke rose into the air with the aroma of onions and carrots and pork. My company sat closest to the rough bulwark and lines of splintering wooden spikes that marked the edge of the camp. Deep grey clouds set in; suffocating the azure sky the light was swallowed so quickly I thought that the sun had disappeared. I couldn’t see a thing so I decided to join my brothers for dinner, there were plenty of others on watch duty and one man wouldn’t make a difference.…

It was in the afternoon, around four; I was sitting on the beach, looking at the sea and the sun, and waiting for my friend. I enjoyed looking into the horizon of the sea where the sky and the water were merging together, how the waves were covering each other, and the sun that was reflecting its rays from the water. The sun was high up in the sky spreading its rays everywhere trying to touch every object around. The color of the sun was creamy yellow, and it was easy to distinguish it from the light blue color of the sky. There were few clouds, but they were far away, so the sun was taking all the space above the horizon. As the sunset was starting, the sun was going down slowly changing its color from creamy yellow to shades of glowing orange. The rays were not reaching the land any more. Some parts of the landscape were getting dark as though the sun was going down. The difference in its position in a short time period was noticeable. In few seconds the sun was already all red and its red color spread all over the sky. The reddish clouds looked like cotton candy in the sky. Even the sea was changing too. It began to get more dynamic because there was more waves and they were higher. The color of the sea was changing from light to dark blue, almost black. From the waves? splashes the sea looked like a beer in a glass, since the foam was covering it. Sometimes the foam was covering it almost everywhere, so the sea looked white as if it was the snow but not the water. When the sun reached the line of the horizon, it was a rich red color like blood. It looked like that the sun was sinking into the water like a piece of live ember and the heat made the air around the sun shimmer. The sky was almost dark and the first stars…
