Washington crossing the Delaware by Emanuel Leutze and David Shulman have many similarities, although there are more differences.

In the painting, Washington crossing the Delaware, it is happier and brighter. It looks as if they are happy to surprise attack those other people. There are white horses, which symbolizes purity. He put an American flag in it, to symbolize the patriotism. The mood is eager, determined, and war ready. In the painting, the imagery patterns are: red, white and blue, and light to dark from left to right (Leutze George Washington crossing the Delaware). They both are about fighting, and have horses and water. The painting looks like it is in the

Emanuel Leutze painted a painting in 1851 called “Washington Crossing the Delaware”, and David Shulman wrote a poem of the same title in 1936. Both of these men used their own perspectives of this event in history. Many people may have different perspectives based on how they might feel about the historical event. Some might see it as the revolution and others might see it as an act of greed and war. In addition, you might interpret it as Washington just being tedious and anxious for land. Myself as judging both of their pieces I conclude that they have more similarities than differences.…

In the top right corner there are brown-looking clouds. In the middle ground you see the vast ocean continuing through the horizon. The waves are stronger and seem to grow on the right side of the painting. The painting is showing us Liberty as the woman with the bright tricolored flag which resembles democracy and men of different social classes following her. The man in the top hat represents the bourgeoisie and the man with the cap on the other side of Liberty represents the labor class. This symbolizes the two classes coming together to fight against the monarchy and to fight for democracy. The blue in the skies shows hope and a new light that comes with the revolt against the king. The dead mound of people that she stands on is almost like a pedestal which glorifies Liberty even more. Also among the dead bodies there is a dead soldier which shows the weakness of the monarchy and the fierceness and power of the people following Liberty. The clashing dark and light colors as well as the vivid blues and reds also make the painting more energetic, more powerful, and more patriotic as Liberty leads the people to…

The bull not only represents the Spanish culture, but also represents power, authority. Possibly the power of Spain fighting back, or standing up. The flaming buildings, crumbling walls not only express the pure destruction in Guernica, but the destructive power within war. The newspaper print within the painting, represents how people found out about the massacre, or even how people were begging for help. The light in the top of the painting could represent the sun lighting down on the chaos that is happening, showing the true nature of war itself. The broken sword shows defeat of innocent lives by their tormentors. The lady on the right, with the large leg, it represents how hard it was to escape from the chaos.…

Upon first glance, the painting seems out of focus. The colors are beautiful blues but seem to flow together. With the colors blending together, it doesn 't appear that there is much of a subject for the painting. Some archways stand out because they are highlighted with lighter colors. What appears to be water at the bottom of the painting seems very choppy and indistinct. From up close, this painting does not appear very clear and have a subject matter to focus on.…
