Nailer, the protagonist, has fallen deep within an oil tank. He tries to call for help but is left unanswered. He assumes that his best friend, Pima, will come to his rescue 'cause she's always been there for him. Nailer is faced with the harsh reality that he is alone and needs to get out alone. This sort of conflict could be perceived as a little of both, internally and externally.

1. Nailer is faced with a sophisticated situation where he has to make a choice between this or that. That's one prediction. Complication like this could arise such as; Nailer having to choose between Pima and Pima's mother or some sort.
2. Nailer doesn't meet the daily quota of finding enough copper wiring and is trying to fight for his survival, hoping to live to see another day. Strategy that could be used for this is stealing from others. The end justifies the means, right?
