Narcissism within Wuthering Heights Draft
In literature, a character always has a downfall that leads to their destruction. Whether it consist of a stubbornness or being too intelligence, it still shapes the character’s personality and helps direct them to become who they are meant to be. One flaw that is seen throughout literature is narcissism, which is a personality disorder in which one is over confident of himself. Emily
Bronte exemplifies the personality of narcissism within her book,
Wuthering Heights, through the feelings of greed, vanity, and conceit that the characters of Heathcliff, Catherine Earnshaw, and Edgar Linton exteriorize to strengthen the plot, which will end up being a factor to their destruction. Everyone is a narcissism to a certain degree, which is healthy. It becomes a problem when one loses sight of reality.
