Watching a Movie at Home vs. Theater
Movies are one of the biggest entertainment sources for anyone in the world, and for the same reason film industry is the largest of any industries with India making the most number of movies per year than any other country. People watch movies at home on their television or in the theaters on a big screen where the film is been displayed with a movie projector onto a large projection screen at the front of the auditorium. Watching a movie at home or in theater is an enjoyable experience for everyone depending on personal preferences.

In a theater, one can watch movies as soon as they are released without having to wait until they are released on a DVD or shown on a local television channel. At the same time, watching a movie in a theater is an expensive deal. One pays a lot more money to buy a ticket than to watch it at home in a group. Purchasing a movie that is more expensive than purchasing a theater ticket.

One does not have to deal with commercial breaks in between the movies in a theater, but a television telecast of the same movie is always full of lots of frequent advertisements. For those who like to take breaks between the movies, this could be a good thing because this gives them time to freshen up or find out about products available in the market via the commercials. In a theater one does not have that choice; if one leave in between the movie to freshen up, one might miss a good and critical scene of the movie. This is often annoying for other people too who get disturbed because of someone’s movements in the aisle.

The sound quality and picture quality of a movie in theater is usually better than a home television, and for some people watching a movie in a big group is always more fun than watching it in a secluded environment at home. One can plan watching a movie at the theater whenever they want, but one cannot decide to watch their favorite movie at home

Staggering movie times would mean less wait in the concession, people don’t like to wait and if you have 4 movies showing at the same time with 60 people at each showing, and if 25% of the people want concession foods, that could be 80 people waiting in line for a movie that starts in 10 min. It is less hassle for the movie theaters to stagger times for their concessions rather than all at the same time. A Mulitscreen theater showing helps the mall revenue. How has product placement came to be such an important factor on television and in the movies today? Why is it that when we are watching a movie, we see all of these random products we’re familiar with? Product placement began in the nineteenth century. It has been used more and more ever since. Product placement is quite frequently used in just about every movie that has came out and every TV show that has aired in the 21st century. “Increasingly, product placement in the multibillion dollar movie industry has become an important advertising medium” (Arens, Weigold 544). Over two-thirds of advertisers use product placement. It is very common that we, the people who are watching, notice these products being shown, and many…

I, personally, hate going to the movies. The prices are always more expensive every time I go. When I was in middle school I could go for around 8$, and now it’s more in the 15-20 dollar range. All to sit in a theater for 2ish hours and stare silently at a screen, something I could easily (and would prefer to) do at home. The only time I have gone to movies in the past few years are with family and friends, as a group activity. The cultural idea of seeing a movie is so culturally ingrained that people actually will spend 20$ on a movie ticket . Movie theaters are probably one of the few remaining “push” innovations, along with magazines and newspapers. You have to show up at a certain time, to a certain selection of movies, and pay by the movie. Movies are highly advertised (although I am told that LA had way more movie advertising than other US cities, which I had never really noticed since I’ve lived here my whole life) and an extremely money-based business. The movies produced by big names and companies are so different from independently made movies, especially in artisitc value. The movie industry is so highly commercialized that maybe we balance it out by seeing the films in something as old-fashioned as a theater. Seeing the movie in a theater also allows you to be one of the first to watch it (except for…

What will it take to get customers into movie theaters? It is uncertain over how many people want their movies delivered; mostly in today’s economy people would rather have convenience over quality. Even now that the technology is getting far most advanced they don’t need to watch a movie at the theater if they can enjoy it in their own home. To get more people to attend a theater one must consider the external components, external trends, and what stake holders are important to movie theater chains.…
