Water Into Tap Water
Imagine not being able to drink a single drop of purified water again. Due to the people of the United States drinking billions of gallons of water daily, the amount of purified water we drink is starting to run out which is causing a problem already. Psychological studies have shown humans still don't accept water being reused even after knowing the water is purified and perfectly clean. Advocates are still against ultraviolet machines being used to clean and purify water. While some people believe that drinking recycled water is both repulsive and distasteful, others believe that we have to think of future generations (our kids and grandchildren) who will mainly be affected by this issue. The use of water has grown drastically, and we will soon undertake the dangers of this …show more content…
In Virginia, there is one of the fourth places that recycle water for drinking. On the video "How To Turn Your Toilet Water Into Tap Water" it states that "the first step of this process was to collect all of the sewer water from the region, they would treat the water three different ways before sending it out to the Occoquan reservoir." In that process, they would kill the bacteria with microorganisms while reducing phosphorus with chemicals finishing by filtrating the water using active carbon." In the video, it also states that "after they make sure that everything is up to code the treated water flows about 15 miles to the South and it goes to another plant." At the end, it's treated again like all the other reservoir water before hitting the tab. As a result of the water being purified, it was safe from people to drink but not many wanted to drink recycled water as they feel that it wasn't safe or healthy.
