Water Polo-Personal Narrative
11 | 9 | 2015 I played six water polo games last weekend! I was at the pool from seven o'clock in the morning till seven thirty at night, and I never got the chance to leave the pool deck. I didn’t even get the chance to eat really. I was the first game in the morning, and that last game at night. It was really fun though; I scored two goals. I played in two different age divisions, and we won three out of six games. This weekend I have another big tournament here in Coronado. At least we have home court advantage most of the time. I am not just saying this because it’s my pool, but the B.B.M.A.C. is the nicest pool I have ever been to. To totally change the subject Ms. Noonan gave us a project, that she explained to us with the …show more content…
It was actually pretty fun and I am glad, because of how smooth it went. The veteran my partner and I received for our homeroom was super nice and respectful. It was the main speaker and his father who is ninety four and fought in three wars. My mom was in the Navy and I just think that it is such a cool experience. It’s not like my mom was in the war or anything, but she still has a bunch of cool stories. I think that the military opens up a lot opportunities for people who don’t know what they want to do with there life. Once you go through bootcamp the military can pay you for going to college. That’s how my mom in getting her PhD. Then she will become a teacher for underprivileged schools. I think it is super cool. I am proud to have a parent who was in the military. Go America! I am just being funny, but yeah thank you military men and …show more content…
It all started out at 8:30 in the morning. My sisters friend was coming over and my older sister was coming over as well. We were all going to go dress shopping for thanksgiving. Then my sisters friend, Sylvan, called and told us that her little brother was coming to, which is fine. He brought a project that was due next week, but he told Sylvan and his parents that he would finish it. Then when my older sister Jocelyn got here she brought her boyfriend Stephen; he is very close with our family. So when we were leaving Sylvans little Brother, Corbin, asked to go in the car with my older sister, stephen, and I. When all four of us arrived at the mall we couldn’t find Sylvan and my sister Jessie. All four of us just sat around the mall for an hour and fifteen minutes. The girls would not answer any of our phone calls, then they just text us that they decided to stop at Sephora without telling us. I can’t really remember what happened after that; normally when people start yelling or fighting I just space out and try to ignore it. My two sisters used to fight really bad when they were both in high school together. I have a family of all girls and things get emotional sometimes. I mean even my dog is a

To express his believe about stretching one’s limit, the great Guy Finley had once stated, “The limit of your present understanding is not the limit of your possibilities.” Inspired by his quote, I, Giang Pham, believe that I would be a valuable member of McGarvin’s Academic Pentathlon team. Based on my personal knowledge of Pentathlon, I have first-handedly experience the soul of a Pentathlete through various study sessions at Ethan Allen. Because of this, I have developed a deep insight of the components necessary to be a true Pentathlete. In addition to having first-hand experience, I also have extremely high expectations for both myself and other students, for it is essential in my academic growth. With this, one like myself could ultimately…

It was a frigid, windy, Friday night in October. The only light was the bright and beaming illumination of the stadium lights projecting over the soccer field. The bleachers were full, it seemed as if the whole school was there, and as a freshman with anxiety, it made it hard to cope with the fact, that I was going to be a starter for the varsity soccer team.…

Growing up, I was never naturally athletic and very injury prone. Regardless of these issues, I always remained determined and strived to accomplish my goals. As I enter high school one of my main goals was to make the varsity tennis team. During my freshmen year I practiced every day for the first 3 months of school hoping that I could just make the team. Unfortunately I tore a ligament in my wrist for the second time which prevented me from practicing till right before the tennis season started. I ended barely making the JV team which was very disappointing, but it only motivated me for next year. In my heart I knew that I if I was determined enough I could play varsity next year on my own merit. As I progressed through the sophomore year,…

People ask me why I care so much. They tell me it’s just a game, get over it. But soccer has never been just a game to me. Soccer has been consuming my time, thoughts, and body since my parents signed me up for small-time recreational soccer twelve years ago that developed into extremely competitive travel soccer. They, perhaps unknowingly, threw me headlong into a life of traveling countless miles, long nights of practice, and an unforgettable amount of tears, sweat, and bloodshed. All which persisted over the course of my extensive soccer career.…

Figueroa’s Framework will be used to determine barriers that prevent me from playing water polo. Barriers can be cause by a variety of different factors. In Figueroa’s framework, barriers can be categorised into 5 levels: individual, interpersonal, institutional, structural and cultural. Some of the individual barriers I faced would be the focus today. The individual level in the Figueroa’s framework is regarded as personal, and is about how I perceive water polo. Some of the issues that will be examined are how my limited swimming abilities affected my attitude, belief and values. All of these barriers would subsequently impact how accessible water polo is to me.…

I don’t know exactly where I am going. Maybe this comes as a shock to those who think that because someone has good grades, they have their live figured out. It astonishes me just how mistaken this view is. Being born in Cuba I was limited as to what options I had for my life path. Consequently, the transition from one country to another when I was just twelve years old was very frustrating and tough. Somehow I managed to get a grasp of the language and progressively ascend from the lowest English classes to the most advanced in my school. I never failed to be hard on myself though, and I apply this concept to almost everything I do. However, this way of thinking has not come at no cost. My thinking process can be quite obsessive at times.…

Water polo is a team water sport. It is the oldest continuous Olympic team sport. The playing team consists of six field players and one goalkeeper with a maximum of six substitutes. The winner of the game is the team that scores more goals. Gameplay involves swimming, players passing the ball while being defended by opponents, and scoring by throwing into a net defended by a goalie. Water polo, therefore, has strong similarities to the land-based game of team handball. The frequency of 'man-up' (or 'power play') situations also draws comparisons with ice hockey.…
