Who is the best hockey player to ever, Mr. Hockey or The Great One? They are the best of their time. All of the records they broke and the trophies they have received prove this. Wayne Gretzky and Gordie Howe are comparative in their statistics, accomplishments, and styles of play.
First, they are compared through statistics. Statistics is a big reason Gretzky is one of the best. He has 2,857 points with 1,963 of those being assists. He would still have the record if he did not score a single goal. Howe is number two in total goals and fourth with 1,850 points in the NHL. He surpassed Maurice Richard’s NHL goal-scoring record of 544, and went on to score almost 50 percent (257) more. (Detroit News)
Next, their accomplishments are compared. All great players are compared by their championships; both Howe and Gretzky have four Stanley Cups. Gretzky has three more Hart Trophies with nine, which is awarded to the player judged most valuable on his team. Gretzky also has four more Ross Trophies with ten, which is given to the player with the most points in the regular season. “At the time of his retirement, Gretzky held 61 NHL records, including career goals (894), assists (1,963) and points (2,857)”

Howe was an all-around player and did it better than anyone else. His only downside is some people considered him dirty due to his famous elbows. . Gretzky is a scorer and a playmaker. He is known for all his points. However, he did not play much defense, so “Gretzky was not a complete player.” (Bleacher Report)
