Ways in which God communicates with us
According to the Oxford Student’s Dictionary nature is “the world with all its features and living things, as distinct from things made by humans.” The Collins English Dictionary describes nature as “the whole system of the existence, arrangement, forces and events of all physical life that are not controlled by man.” From these definitions we can deduce therefore that nature is the creation process that is described in Genesis chapters 1-2. There are things about God that people cannot see – his eternal power and all that makes him God. But since the beginning of the world, those things have been easy for people to understand. They are made clear in what God has made. A medium by which God communicates with his people is through his creation. The Garden of Eden was a key instrument in god’s communication with man before sin. It was created for man to have a place to fellowship and commune with him face to face. The bible tells us that “the heavens tell about the glory of God. The skies announce what his hands have made” (Easy to Read Version, Ps 19:1). This passage expresses to us that God reveals himself to us on a continuous basis. When we see the rising and setting of the sun, the stars at night, and the difference in temperature God is telling us that time, days and seasons are changing. Can you imagine what would happen if we went to bed one night and the sun never rose in the morning? What would you think was the reason for this? When you look on your watch and see the time, what would you do first pray or scream? Not only does the progress and change of time indicate to us the start of a new day, it gives us a feeling of comfort and solace. The sun, moon, earth and its water bodies being held in place indicate that there is a greater power other than gravity that is responsible for such processes. Through the formation of the various countries, mountain ranges, galaxies and caves, God communicates to us that he is a very powerful and might God. When
