& Controversies ¨The framers of the Constitution intended for all Americans to have the right to bear arms in order to protect themselves and their homes. Excessively strict gun regulations—including the recently struck-down handgun ban in Washington, D.C.—are therefore unconstitutional ("The Second Amendment: Does the Second Amendment to the U.S. Constitution guarantee an individual right to bear arms?" Issues & Controversies, Infobase Learning, 11 July 2008,http://icof.infobaselearning.com/recordurl.aspx?ID=2301. Accessed 21 Feb. 2017.)¨
The second amendment does give the rights to keep and bear firearms so why should you take that away from the people that use them in the right way, instead just take them away from the criminals that use them in not needed ways. Why make law that prevents people from having the rights to bear firearms when there was an amendment made for people to have that and now there is more crimes occurring we wanna jerk the rights of people to protect themselves and families, to hunt, and everything just because of criminals.
Guns provide protection and have saved many lives new laws will decrease the ability to use guns.
According to Gun Owners.org, ¨Guns used 2.5 million times a year in self-defense. Law-abiding citizens use guns to defend themselves against criminals as many as 2.5 million times every year -- or about 6,850 times a day. This means that each year, firearms are used more than 80 times more often to protect the lives of honest citizens than to take lives” (Gun Owners.org). By making the law it´s gonna make the decrease the use of guns go way down because the use of them is protecting families from criminals, break in, and many more things that happen.
Concealed carry laws help reduce crimes. According to Gun Owners.org, Nationwide: one-half million self-defense uses. Every year, as many as one-half million citizens defend themselves with a firearm away from home. Concealed carry laws are dropping crime rates across the country. A comprehensive national study determined in 1996 that violent crime fell after states made it legal to carry concealed firearms¨ (Gun
Owners.org).
Freedom does not simply mean the right to do and say as you please. It also means the right and the capacity to defend yourself and your property. Gun rights supporters assert that the population needs firearms to protect themselves and their possessions. The Second Amendment strengthens our safety while preserving our freedom. This clearly expresses a lack of confidence in our local law enforcement. It also presents a worldview that is filled with danger and suspicion. Almost all criminals have illegal guns. If you take away the rights to legally have guns then only criminals will have guns. Then you will have no way to defend yourself against all of the criminals with guns. Most people that get shot are not from legal guns. only the illegal criminal guns. So who is winning here if you take away our defense?
