We Need To Abolish Standardized Testing In Schools

School. Everyone walking the halls and getting ready to go to their next class. In the back of most kids minds is what they will be when they are older and what job they will have. They may want to be a lawyer, a teacher or an architect etc. Most kids don't realize that these jobs that they want to be they are going to need school. They need to do homework, take tests, and quizzes. They need to have standardized test. They shouldn't take away standardized test because standardized test gives the students a lot of information, it can see what the students are learning and what the teacher is teaching them, and it tests the students on many skills that they have learned over the years. A standardized test gives a lot of information not only to the kids, but also to the teachers. Standardized test is teaching the teachers at the same time because then they teacher has to learn the material that is on the test so that they can teach the students. The standardized test today has different subjects in each question. If a student is just reading a question on the test they might learn something from just reading the question.
One of the biggest reasons why they should keep standardized test in school is because it can show where the students stand.
It will show what subjects they are weak in and what subjects they are strong in. It can also show if the student is gaining any knowledge over the time that they take the tests. “Most educational experts agree that testing is a measure of how well students comprehend and apply knowledge.” (time4learning) In the standardized test it is also showing what the teacher is teaching the students.If one class does really good in one part, but really bad at a different part it shows that it wasn't just one kid who did bad but it was the whole class. This most likely means that the teacher never taught them what they needed to know for the
test.

They also say that students in high school don't try as hard as they normally would on standardized tests. When the teachers are preparing a lot of high school students don't pay attention to what the teaching is saying because they are more worried about college and the future. Most colleges do look at what the students got on their standardized test because they want to relate it to everyone else and see if they are lacking or if the are ahead of everyone. Now, yes preparing for standardized tests does taking up class time, but when they are preparing the students they are teaching them what will be on the test so the students are still learning material at the same time.
On standardized tests each question is a little bit different from the last one. They try to change up the question to see what skills the students have from reading the question. That is also why they have multiple choice, open ended, matching and much more. They do this because they want to see how each student approaches the question.
Standardized test is important in this world today. If we didn't have standardized tests today than most people would have their jobs that they have now. Standardized test gives the students a lot of information, it can see what the students are learning and what the teacher is teaching them, and it tests the students on many skills that they have learned over the years. So now all of those students who took standardized test can now have the job that they always wanted.
