We Need To Talk About Jevin Analysis

The initial thing that caught my eye during the first few views of “We Need to Talk about Kevin” was the intense use of the color red which is highly represents, the predestined bloodshed. Red is seen in most of the scene throughout the film discomfiting Eva as a continuous memory of her son’s psychotic behavior and actions. In this film analysis that the color red is featured in most scenes, we see it during having dinner at table during the scene when Kevin’s T-shirt, which has a theme much like splattered blood. We also see that the diner in the scene were Eva sat in, is completely red and then the one scene shows Celia holding a large red bowl and when Kevin walks by the red tips with his arrows. The first scene and later in another scene
mentioned are memories of Eva’s and in both these scenes the color red is displayed. In these scenes red is not only symbolizes of bloodshed but maybe more so of danger and a warning sign that was never acknowledged by Francis. During the diner scene Eva is at that moment reliving her disturbing past which may or not be a factor in Kevin’s behaviors. She is completely surrounded by the color red in this scene which symbolizes the fact that Eva cannot escape her memories of bloodshed and danger and they follow her, tormenting her.
