Organizing Work
One of the many Fortune 500 companies in the world, Wal-Mart has topped the market as an organization driven by “leadership through service ("Walmart", 2014) Sustaining its remarkable reputation, Wal-Mart has thrived through offering “great value [products and services] for its loyal consumers ("Walmart", 2014) Along with a commendable reputation they need to maintain staying at the ahead of the competitors in the market and efficient organizational goals. Wal-Mart’s organizational structure plays a key role in the way company goals are reached. If the company goals are not reached, there will be a lack of employee performance or a glitch in the organizational structure of the company. Mishaps in achieving company goals can be the result of a number of aspects such as demographics, a declining economy, changing consumer interests and more. Wal-Mart’s organizational structure has proven to be successful. To combat dilemmas that may question its organizational structuring, the company needs to replenish its production flow. The SWOT analysis concluded that the “replenishment” will involve a number of things ranging from hiring new employees to extending training sessions to ensure that employees are fully prepared to service the company. In taking on these simple and previously discussed adoptions (Organizational Planning, Week 3), Wal-Mart will be able to efficiently carry out its goals with no need to change its current structure.
Current Success
Throughout retail stores, Wal-Mart holds a structure that entails a Co-Manager, an Assistant Manager, a Department Manager, and Hourly Associates. The structure seems chaotic when looking at the big picture. However, the goals can be reached through collective work from the Hourly Associates to the Co-Managers.
