POST LAB QUESTIONS
1. Explain how the ecosystem was affected by the missing species for each round of the demonstration. a. Round 1 = Without humans less pollution would be in the ecosystem and the natural habitat would be a lot more stable and in better condition than it currently is in.
b. Round 2 = Without flowers in the ecosystem we would have lower levels of oxygen to breathe and at the same time a lot less allergies to things such as pollen but also without pollen bees would not be able to produce honey.
c. Round 3 = Without lichens in the ecosystem the plants would struggle to obtain proper nourishment.
d. Round 4 = Without bees in the ecosystem processes such as flowers blossoming. Bees are important for pollination of countless hectares of agricultural crops.
2. Provide one action we as humans engage in that leads to the extinction of each of these components.
Action affecting Lichens = Natural life such as trees are important for lichens to grow and with humans causing pollution which is affecting natural life such as trees ends up affecting everything in a vicious cycle.
Action affecting Trees = Humans use of oil for fuel and coal which release carbon dioxide in the atmosphere causing pollution and therefore affecting natural life such as trees.
Action affecting Flowers = Similar answer to that off actions affecting trees because it is the pollution that we are causing are killing the natural life.
Action affecting Bees = With humans using pesticides, new biological agents, we cause a lot of bees to be affected by such actions.
3. Provide three specific actions that humans can take to minimize our impact on the ecosystem and ensure the survival of lichens, trees, flowers, and bees.
Action 1 = People can be smarter about their
