Weight Training Essay
Weight Training My first introduction to weight training was through my basketball and cross country coaches. I went to summer weight lifting at my school, and continued to for the next two years. I’ve also taken multiple weight training classes in high school, and through those experiences have learned to enjoy this particular type of exercise. Presently, I work out regularly, including weight training during most of my workouts. Weight training has impacted all aspects of my life, both physically and mentally. Both of which increase the quality of my performance in athletics. As lifting was incorporated into my routine early on, I was able to see how it positively impacted my ability to carry out physical activity. Many of the sports I participated in became a little bit easier, and I became more effective in those areas. Running for cross was less miserable than it had been before, because I finally had the stamina to run more efficiently. I had more power for the more physical sports, like basketball, I could move faster and my ball handling improved significantly. The area I saw the most improvement in was softball. For me it’s helped with work, mainly lifting heavy objects and standing up all day. When I’m physically healthy, long work hours aren’t as taxing which makes school that much easier. Being physically fit drastically increases my mental health. I’m able to sleep regular hours, which helps with focus and achieving my goals. Better sleep also means less fatigue during the day. The quality of my school work and even participation in class shows significant progress. I’m generally in a better mood, as well, when working out regularly. I’m more likely to participate in social activities. Overall, regular physical activity improves many areas in my life, including both physical and mental
