The colonists already had the Stamp Act, which is a tax that the British put on all papers including documents, papers, etc. The colonists didn’t want to pay this tax and didn't think it was fair. Also, they didn’t even have a say in what should be taxed and what shouldn’t to make it more affordable for …show more content…
them. And finally, the parliament was thousands of miles away so they couldn’t even take action for the problem even if they wanted to. These poor colonists were already given unnecessary tax payments, why should they be given another one?
In addition, the colonists did not want this extra tax burden of course.
Even though the colonists were under the king, they did nothing to deserve this extra payment. Also, The British crown refused to acknowledge their views on not having the tax. And finally, the colonists were being forced a tax that wasn’t necessary. The British showed no consideration or respect for the colonists.
Correspondingly, the Colonists were just trying to prove a point. There was no other way to show the british that they were being oppressed. Also, they didn’t destroy any part of the ship. And finally, they didn’t use violence in any way to prove their point. Even though they destroyed the tea, they respected the British property and civilians tremendously.
Although the Colonists behavior was an act to prove their point, it was an act of treason from the point of view of the British government.. The colonists destroyed the British property. They also destroyed small businesses. And finally, they attempted to frame Native Americans. Don’t get me wrong, these were all serious offences. However, the British were giving taxation without representation. The Colonists had no choice but to choose this offence to give their colony
freedom,
In conclusion, the Colonists were Justified in dumping the tea into Boston Harbor. This is because, they already had the Stamp Act, they didn’t want the tea in the first place, and they were just trying to prove a point. I admire the Colonists bravery in risking their lives just to help their colony gain freedom form the tax. They were already dealing with the Stamp Act and I am surprised they didn’t do something for that either! (I would if I were them.) Thomas Hutchinson and Samuel Adams were not criminals, they were heros.
