When emperor Claudius invaded Britain, he did something very smart. Namely, showing the people of Britain how good the life in the Roman empire was.
He did this by giving the sons of local leaders, a trip to Rome, so they could see how well-civilised and flourishing the Roman people were. After being overwhelmed by all this wealth and culture, a lot of British tribes went to collaborate with the Romans.
However, there also were quite some tribes which did not succumb to all this novelty and progression. They wanted to expel these unwelcome oppressors of course, and tried so many times. Sometimes their attempts were successful, such as the one from Boudicca, a local queen who led a revolt against the Roman governor. She burned every Roman settlement in the area, then she burned down the local Roman barracks.
This was not without reason, the Roman rulers had declared Boudicca’s land a slave-province, and to validate that decision, they raped her daughters before her own eyes.
Before that, Boudicca even was an avid supporter of the Romans.
Still the Romans did not accept this revolt and slaughtered the army of Boudicca, who took her own life during the battle.
My conclusion is that not every British tribe thought the same about the Romans.
The Romans brought inventions, a higher grade of lifestyle, and wealth with them, which was all very much appreciated. But as in every colony, the locals were not too keen with, even though partial, loss of
