The international court later ruled that whaling in the antarctic by the Japanese was illegal and ordered them to stop. However this is not the end of the story as the Japanese claimed in December 2015 that they will resume whaling in the Antarctic while already carrying out whaling activities in the North Pacific. This has to stop.
All of the hunted whales species on Earth have been seriously affected as their population have decreased dramatically, the numbers in some species of whales have even dropped down 90%. There has been also cases where whales have been hunted to extinction such as the Atlantic Grey Whale. What many people don’t realise is that whale populations take a very long time to recover, only being able to have one calf every 2-3 years which then the young has to survive the countless dangers of the ocean, with the added danger of being culled for their meat, oil and blubber.
