The revolutionary war was something that would create our American identity, but how did it come to be this way? As with all wars, there was conflict, specifically between two opposing sides. In the case of the Revolutionary War, these people were the Patriots and the British. To start, we should know why they are fighting. A couple years before the Revolutionary War, Britain fell into huge debt from a previous war, the Seven Years War, and had to manage their finances somehow. They immediately turned to the colonists in North America, taxing them and overall creating what was said to be unfair and unjust law. “No taxation without representation!” The more Britain taxed the colonists the more they grew angrier, until eventually they rebelled against them. This brave man is George Washington. Washington led armies into battle prior to the Revolutionary War and was highly skilled and experienced. He became America's commander, showcasing his power and authority. Under his command, the Patriots became determined to fight for their soon-to-be country. They already had motives against the British, it was only now they could really display what they truly felt. Despite their initial confidence in the war, the Patriots entered the war with disadvantages. For starters, they themselves were highly untrained, having little supplies to fight such as necessities such as cannons, gunpowder, and a navy.
