Macbeth and Lady Macbeth were both keen to the idea of becoming King (and Queen) of Scotland after the witches spoke to Macbeth and assured him that it was his destiny. Or did they just love the power they gave each other? In my personal opinion I do not think they loved each other. I think that Lady Macbeth manipulated herself into staying with Macbeth, especially after she found out he was supposed to be king. But, why didn't Macbeth just leave? Isn't staying with someone you don't love abuse? Well, yes and no. Yes because you're lying to that person and staying with them for either your own personal benefits and not supporting them. An example of someone supporting their significant other no matter what is the Clinton’s. Even though Bill and Hillary have both had their fair share of scandals they have always stuck with each other no matter what.
All in all, abuse has been a major factor in Shakespeare's Macbeth as well as real life. Abuse is a touchy subject but when written well, can inform the youngest of readers about what it actually is. In my opinion, Shakespeare could've gone a little more heavy handed with Macbeth’s mental state because when being abused it does not make you feel well about yourself or your life.
