At the first debate where estimated 100 million people watching, Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton shook hands with smile on the stage, and Lester Holt of NBC nightly news explained the rule of the debate. It was a temperament test for Trump to prove that he is suitable for the President. However, he failed to do so in my opinion. This debate proves that he is not sincere, not patient enough to listen, not honest, not prepared enough, and absolutely not suitable for being the President. During the debate, he lied several times against Clinton’s comments and talked about issues which were not true. At the beginning, he made a false statement about large job losses in Michigan and Ohio, which actually both states
have higher unemployment rates than the national average. He told Clinton, “No wonder you’ve been fighting ISIS your entire adult life.”, interrupting Clinton’s speech and being warned by Holt. ISIS has been the serious issue only for the last several years. Holt said to him, “You had supported the war in Iraq before the invasion” based on the past record, but Trump denied immediately. In addition, on the security topic, he made comments such as “We can’t defend Japan” and “China should go into North Korea”, which proves that he does not have a clue about foreign relationships. Another lie was a big one, which he said, “I never said that”, when Clinton stated that he called pregnancy as an inconvenience to employees. On the other hand, Clinton proves that she has prepared for this debate, and is confident in taking the role of presidency. I love several of her remarks. The best one is “I know you live in your own reality” to Trump, and another one is “So a man who can be provoked by a tweet shouldn’t have his fingers anywhere near the nuclear codes.” I believe that many undecided voters will vote for her. Trump has proved himself who he really is, and America should be able to see that. After the debate, it almost immediately moved the polls in Clinton’s favour.
