DeHaan vs Skarsgård In the summer of 2013, Dane Dehaan, an aspiring actor from Pennsylvania, got his big break playing the green goblin in the blockbuster “The Amazing Spider-Man 2.” On the other side of the world, Bill Skarsgård, another talented actor from Sweden, received his break being casted as the blood-sucking creature in a new Netflix series that continued to air for three years “Hemlock Grove.” Dane and Bill both come from what would seem like two completely different worlds, but still manage to hold similarities that have brought both of them far in their individual careers. Throughout this essay, the development of DeHaan’s and Skarsgård’s careers as actors will be explained through analysis of their childhood, education, and films while showing that although …show more content…
Dane grew up in a home that would be labeled as “normal”, having a mother and a father, both of which had mediocre occupations, one was a computer programmer and the other a Metlife executive. Being born on February 6th of 1986 made Dane older than Bill. Bill was born the 9th of August in the year 1990, making him four years younger than Dehaan. Although Dane was older and seemed to have a head start in life, Bill was dealt the right cards, acting was in his blood. Bill Skarsgard’s family is a family of actors starting with his father Stellan Skarsgard. Stellan has starred in some of Hollywood's more familiar movies such as Good Will Hunting and The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo. The other actors of the family are Alexander, Gustaf, and Valletta Skarsgard who have all had their share of success. Of Bills six siblings, three had pursued a career in acting prior to Bill’s career. They may have set a bar for the family’s success; however, Bill’s predecessors had paved a way for his career, giving him the advantage that Dane did not have.
