“Harry Potter: Order Of The Phoenix” Movie Analysis Summer 2015
Describe the setting of the film - (What time and place does the film make reference to?)
Harry Potter takes place mostly in Hogwarts, the fictional boarding school that the main protagonist (Harry Potter) attends. Hogwarts is a main setting for the majority of the Harry Potter books and movies. Hogwarts is located inside Hogwarts Castle, which is in Scotland. The school itself is divided into four separate houses: Gryffindor, Hufflepuff, Ravenclaw, and Slytherin. Due to the fact that the three main characters are all in the Gryffindor house, many scenes occur in there too.

They show a great love towards almost everyone.
The school itself, Hogwarts, is a youth educational program. This of course, The students can take many classes; ranging from Astronomy to Potions to Charms. The entire franchise is entirely based on adults running an educational program for magic.
Hogwarts is very diverse - this could’ve lead to some discrimination. Interestingly, all of the students, regardless of their race or gender, are generally treated equally.
Are there any human right violations? If so, who is violating human rights?, whose rights are violated?, how are they violated? What is being done to stop the human rights violations?
Umbridge, a villain, is arrogant, evil, and tries and almost succeeds at taking over Hogwarts. She lies about Voldemort’s return. Harry Potter says that Voldemort had indeed returned, but Umbridge punishes him. She takes a magical quill and writes “I must not tell lies.” This quil cuts Harry’s hand, hurting him tremendously. This was definitely a human rights violation. Eventually, Umbridge is fired and can no longer mistreat students.
