What Are The Similarities Between Taylor And The Cay
My rough draft -

Theodore Taylor and Robert Zemeckis are both incredibly talented people who have done unbelievably successful work. Two of those creations are Cast away which was directed by Robert and the Cay written by Theodore. This text will help identify how similar and different these stories really are. The follower got paragraph will explain the similarities.

For starters, both plots are mainly about being stranded on an island and seeing how one survives and makes it through it. Another similarity is that the reason the characters end up on the islands are due to fatal and alarming accidents for example the Cay is the S.S Hato being torpedoed and in Cast away there is the fatal and tragic plane crash. Another resemblance is on

In addition to what i’ve already said, at a certain point in both stories the main characters have suicidal thoughts and think about just ending their life. Adding to what has just been said, in the stories there are major storms that show up, in the Cay there is the giant hurricane and in Cast away the terrible storm that caused the plane to crash. Also, I would like to point out that there is an important or main line in each story. For example in the Cay it is “Are you still black Timothy?” Said by the blind Phillip, and in Cast away “WILSON” said by Chuck Noland. Another thing to keep in mind would be that in both stories there are rafts used by the characters to get to the island. There is another similarity which I find rather less sanitary and gross but the characters both try to eat raw fish. As we approach the end of my paragraph I would like to point out that all the main characters that got stranded on the island (and Wilson) seemed to have built a strong bond between each other. By that I mean that Phillip and Timothy have created a heavy friendship that if not interrupted by Timothy’s death, could …show more content…
For instance Timothy and Phillip have been stranded for only about 2-3 months before being rescued unlike Chuck Noland who had to suffer for more than 4 years on that island before sailing off on to his raft and being rescued by that boat. Another difference is that the Cay took place during World War II unlike Cast away took place in more present time. Another addition to my bunch of differences would be that while on the raft, Phillip loses his ability to see while Chuck keeps all of his senses. There is also quite an obvious difference which is that the age difference between all of the characters is quite big. By which I mean Timothy is in his 70’s, Chuck is in his 30’s and Phillip is only 11 years old. In the Cay the characters had to live with the food and material they found on the island and what they had on their raft, unlike Chuck who found Federal Express packages coming in from the plane crash which carried material Chuck has turned into something useful. Before the plane crash and being stranded on the island, Chuck has fallen in love with his girlfriend Kelly, sadly he found out that she had gotten married while he was stuck. Phillip had not yet fallen in love which makes it a difference between the two

The Cay: They have been shipwrecked on the island for a few days and it is starting to get hard. They are running low on supplies which mean that they have to go and hunt for food. With Phillip being blind it makes it very difficult because Timothy who is quite old has to do the hunting in order for them to survive. What kept them alive and the way they got through everything in the story was by supporting each other, growing a friendship and Timothy’s knowledge due to his age. At one point in the book Timothy and Phillip found a coconut tree. With Timothy being…

Some similarities are very important to understand the story even if it’s in book or movie form. Starting with the setting or city it’s involved in. They were both set up in the city of San Francisco. If one was set up in San Francisco and one in let’s say Denver then the setting of the whole story would be off. The one in Denver would have a colder feeling and people would be wearing coats and stuff from the one in San Francisco the feeling wouldn’t be as cold. So the setting similarity is very important to the story on a high level. Also the names of all the characters are similar. This is important because if the characters were named different and someone was trying to follow along then that would confuse that person. So say if the character is named Jake in one story and Spade in another then how you would know without having to look for extra details like features of the face. Also the title is the same. I know there is a movie called Satan Meets a Lady that is a version of the Maltese Falcon. A movie watcher wouldn’t know that the book is related to the movie without putting two and two together. The movies name is very important to the person comprising and just wanted to see the movie. I love book related of movies and it’s easier to find if they had the same name. Those are only just a few similarities of the book and movie there are a lot more. So all the similarities are really important, from weather it’s to understanding the book verses the movie or vice versa.…

Looking closer, it is plain to see clear similarities between these two stories. These similarities even continue right down to the characters! One is extremely sensitive and attention-wanting, while the other is mature and mellow. One takes an idea way too far and causes an extreme internal conflict, which he will never hear the end of, while the other unintentionally causes a short-term external conflict which barely includes himself. These two characters also learn completely different things. One learns of his actual strength and that he doesn’t have inflammatory rheumatism, where the other character doesn’t lear anything except maybe to be more careful where and how he sets up his cot. When you think about it, though, there are also some big similarities between the two. For example both of these characters, intentionally or not, are the main responsibility for the story’s conflict. Both of the characters’ conflicts also involve their families. Lastly, they both lie during the story and learn it doesn’t pay off in the end. The similarities and differences between these two characters is just one small example of the many different characters in short stories. Next time you read a short story, think about what they do, and do not have in…

Both text have a similar theme, they both compare someone being trapped in something. Both characters want to escape what they are trapped in. For example, in the story "Boy's Life" the character is stuck in school and can’t wait until the bell rings. Which means that he is trying to leave or escape the place he is in, but he is held for a longer time because the teacher wants to discuss something with him and he doesn’t pay attention when she is talking to him which means he doesn’t have patience to listen all he wants to do is leave.…

Although these two characters may share similarities, they also have their differences. The major difference is how they carry themselves once evil is presented. Although the two stories share similarities in what it means to be good, the differences between how evil is presented is…
