Students failing courses has become much more common now. The advanced world that we live in now is full of many distractions such as Internet, social networking, social life, and etc. Many students are more interested in what is more popular in society rather than their education that will help them towards a successful future. With these distractions being everywhere it causes many students to fail courses. Failing is the lack of performance of something due, required, or expected. Students tend to fail courses because they are distracted through social networking sites, through the use of electronic devices, and through working part-time.
To start off, many students are too addicted to social networking sites. Many sites like Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Tumbler and etc., have caught the eye of many young individuals. They are more interested in what is happening in other people’s life, and posting pictures of themselves rather than school. Distractions like this are causing a decrease in their marks. For instance, a professor at York University found that 10-20 percent of students are using their laptops for class notes, where has others were on social networking websites. Has you can see a high percentage of students are distracted by these websites instead of paying attention to what the teacher is saying. Which results in, missing out key information for that lecture and causing a higher chance of failing. Social networking is commonly used now more because of the devices that many students bring along with them.
In addition, the use of electronics in class is more common now, things like laptops phones, iPods, and iPad. Which causes many students to be distracted during a lecture because many students are not focusing ahead which can lead them to fail the course. The use of electronics is just an everyday thing now things like a simple text could distract a student away from what the teacher is
