Preschool Children
The purpose of this article is to investigate whether question-answering games can improve children's early literacy using ASR/dialogue systems. The article also determines the factors which lead to the "literacy gap" and the reasons that are needed for an "expert interactive system". In this paper is described a two-phase study, one using a human researcher and one using a system named Spot. The experiment involved 24 participants (14 girls and 10 boys) selected from the primary grades of a nearby Primary School with an average age of 7.56 years old. The research divided into two reading modes, one using contextual BCI and one reading the text before taking the BCI training session. The individuals took the two reading modes randomly and they have been tested to ensure that all children are in the same level and have no prior experience with the subject.
