What Does Freedom Mean To You Essay
Freedom. What is freedom? Freedom has many different meanings to everyone, but this is how the dictionary defines freedom; the power or right to act, speak, or think as one without hindrance or restraint. Now, as I said, there are other meanings to the word freedom.
In the webster dictionary there are over 6 different meanings just for the word freedom. Some pertain to racism or Civil Rights. Others associate it with topics such as abortion or gay marriage. Freedom is such a broad overused term.
What is my definition of freedom? Freedom, to me, is the right to have a say in what is happens. There are roughly 326 million citizens of the United States of America. Now that does not count the illegals. Close to 200 million of those citizens are

Again, there are roughly 326 million U.S. citizens right? 765 thousand of those are police officers and 1,160 thousand more of them are firefighters. Makes you feel pretty secure. But think about this. What if we all of those people were controlled by the government. That we were a communist country and all of your decisions were made for you. Not so secure anymore are you? That is why we need to realize how lucky we are to be able to have these freedoms.
We get to choose a new president every 4 years correct? We have done this for all 51 presidents. We got to vote them into office. Now i know i have talked a lot about voting but it is just so important. We get to CHOOSE who runs our country. This is not chosen for us. It is just so amazing.
You could try and argue that having the freedom to say whatever can lead to many many other issues, such as riots. While that is a good point, the opposite, which is not being able to have a say, can cause even worse issues. Such as corruption or even the over throw of the government. People like to have a say in what happens, no one likes being bossed around and told what to do. Of course there is a balance between being able to do whatever you
