During the decade of 1825 - 1835, there was a lot of grief. He was having trouble studying. His wife would die just days after their third child was born. The next year his father would pass away, and then his mother would pass away three years later. It was rough for Samuel Morse, but he then decided to travel Europe as a getaway.

No one have ever worked a fully operated telegraph that could travel over long distance. Later in 1838, Samuel Morse would later partner up with Alfred Vail, who would later improve by adding the dot and dashes, and will known as “Morse Code,” that would change history.
But it didn’t launch right away, for years the pair was struggling to find investors, until 1842, when they gained the attention from Maine’s Congressmen, Francis Ormond Jonathan Smith. The same year he would string wires between two Committee Offices in the capital and would send messages back and forth. With Smith’s help, Morse made a $30,000 Congressional appropriation to construct a 38-mile working telegraph line from Washington D.C. to Baltimore, Maryland in 1844. He would also send his first message “What hath God Wrought.”
Almost when Morse was given his patent for the telegraph, we was given many offers for partnerships and also rival inventors. One legal battled, called the O’Reilly vs Morse, even went to the Supreme Court. In spite of the court clear ruling, Morse recieved no recognition from the U.S.
