Men such as; Joseph Henry, Alfred Vail, F.O.J Smith and Charles Jackson. All these men contributed to the telegraph and mores code in some way. A man by the name of Charles Jackson, was an inventor, he and Mores were debating that an electric impulse could be carried though just one single wire for a long stretch. Mores did not think it would work for a while but then he said “if this be so, and the presence of electricity can be made visible in and desired part of the circuit, I see no reason why intelligence might not be instantaneously transmitted by electricity to and distance” (quote). At saying this, he started inventing and sketching devices to make it possible. He thought up three different parts; the receiver, a sender, and a code. After four years of drawing, and improvements he invented a device. Mores famous message was tapped out in the telegraph line saying “What hath God wrought” in 1844. It did not take long for telegraph wires to be put in on both sides of the Atlantic. With his works of the telegraphs he became famous and wealthy. His fame and wealth did not come without hardships such as; legal claims and competitors. Samuel Mores handed over his business of inventing to a man named Amos Kendall. He was going to sell all the rights he had for one hundred thousand dollars to the government but, they were not willing to buy because of lack of interest. After handing over the rights, he lived a life with good fortune and fame.
The invention of the telegraph and mores code changed the ways that ships and people as sea communicate. The telegraph works by sending electric impulses through a wire. Morse code is a sequence of dots and dashes that are taped out on the telegraph. Each letter in the alphabet has its own sequence of dots and dashes. The mores code can be used in other ways such as flashing lights on and off and it is just like sending a message across the telegraph but with light
