In regards to content of the stories, they differ quite a bit and are nearly the complete opposite of each other. Russell Baker, the author of “The Art of Eating Spaghetti” seems to have a more negative outlook and isn’t very confident in his writing ability despite his gift for it. He believed he was an average writer, unaware of his potential and not ambitious enough to refine his skills, merely writing papers with little faith that he could be so successful. Another negative thought of Baker’s was that of a writers’ income; he recognized that the profession wasn’t high paying which kept him from taking steps towards writing as a profession. Eventually, however, he turned in a paper to Mr.Fleagle and was praised highly for it, this revealed to him his true interest and potential for writing, shaping his career into what it is now. …show more content…
In this story he is very confident in his hunting ability and underestimates the feelings that accompany taking an animals life, especially ones of beauty. While hunting with his grandfather and cousin for the first time he has the opportunity to shoot rabbits but can’t bring himself to pull the trigger.
