The rite of passage that is most significant to me is just be yourself is that i have a lot of evidence to be yourself.

My first reason is following the right path. The path that you need to lead yourself in the right direction and don't let you parent judge you and tell you how you need to fit in with others. Don't be scared to follow the path you want to follow not what other want you to follow.

My second reason is don't give up on yourself and don't let people tell you what you need to do to yourself. You need to be the leader of yourself and don't let people get in the way and bring you down. If you are down get back up and show the m what powers you have inside of you. My third reason is be yourself no one can ever

Birth is one of the most significant events for Hindus. In some families, the father performs a ceremony immediately after the birth. He dips a gold pen into a jar of honey and writes the sacred Sanskrit symbol: “Om” onto the infant's tongue. The symbol, which stands for truth, is written in hope that the child will be honest and speak only the truth, which is sweet as honey. After a little more than a week, the baby's name is formally given. Usually the name of a favorite god or goddess is chosen and whispered into the child's ear for three times. If the baby is a girl, then within a few weeks, the baby girl has an ear-piercing ceremony. Both boys and girls have their hair cut, symbolic of renewal and the shedding of wrongdoing in past lives. Overall, in common, a birth of a baby is the most beautiful thing. A birth of a baby is considered as a rite of passage because it changes the life of the family. They bring such joy and happiness to the family.…

The Hutchinson Encyclopaedia definition of a pilgrimage is as follows: "Pilgrimage - a journey to a sacred place or shrine inspired by religious devotion" it then goes on to mention few places of pilgrimage, for example that Hindus go to the sacred river Ganges and that Muslims go to the shrine at Mecca. However, it fails to mention Christian places of pilgrimage. People forget that as Christians, pilgrimage can play a major role in a person's life. Pilgrims of Christianity go on pilgrimages to help them to feel closer to God. They visit special sites of religious importance, for example many people travel to Lourdes as a symbol of their faith.…

Ritual enables believers to receive a concrete and dramatic expression to beliefs within social and cultural settings. Rituals use signs, symbols, and vivid actions to raise feelings of belonging and transition. The Mount Alvernia College Diamond Jubilee Mass of 2016, enabled the Mt Alvernia community, Missionary Franciscan Sisters of the Immaculate Conception (MFIC Sisters), parents and teachers to reflect on the 60 years that have passed since the opening of Mount Alvernia College. Unlike prior rituals, like the Build New Community mass from 2015 and monthly themed rituals, Mount Alvernia College amended many symbols, roles, and objects which reflects the ethos, beliefs, values, elements, structure and legacy of the college. The…

Families are full of odd quirks and traditions. Whenever my dad’s family gets together for a birthday we have to set up a spanking train that the birthday boy has to go through as many times as his birthday is. We all have our separate ways that we do things, and this is no exception to how families treat a growing teenager. Every family gives their child different responsibilities, freedoms, and guidance as he grows older. My family is no exception. As I have scanned back on the last couple of years, I have found a few rituals in which I was slowly promoted, rank by rank, to the status of adulthood.…

My family is what some might consider “abnormal” or “weird”. Others would say that we are no fun sticks in the mud who need to get out more. The truth is, is that my family is a group of individuals who help each other live. We are so much alike, while at the same time being nothing alike that it brings us all closer. So the idea of a ritual or a rite of passage is foreign to me, none of us do the same things and all of our interests are completely opposite. That’s when I thought of the thing that everyone in my family does, we find ourselves.…

The sentence “You’re never gonna fit in much, kid” explains why these teenagers have to resist the oppression given by adults. In today’s society, many teachers always expect their students to achieve higher score in tests and most of the parents always expect their children to be successful in all aspects. They both have high expectations on teenagers. In the meanwhile, teenagers keep trying to do their best to fit adults’ standards, but the problem is that adults will never be satisfied with their performance and keep making new requirements. Then the disappointment of adults will make teenagers depressed and pay too much attention on their academic performance. They probably lack confidence and are unable to balance study and entertainment well. As expressed in the article “Adolescent Mental Health And Academic Functioning: Empirical Support For Contrasting Models Of Risk And Vulnerability,” higher levels of depression and poorer academic performance are two main risk factors for adolescent mental health (Lucier-Greer, Mallory, et al. 1286). High expectations of adults would give teenagers great stress on their performance and the failure of achieving adults’ expectation would result in high-level depression. These two factors are very dangerous for teenagers to get mental health problems or even cause suicide. The primary source shows that adults need to change their…

Rites of passage have existed throughout human history and may be a significant factor in the development of a stable adult personality. Broken down into its most basic elements, a rite of passage involves a separation from society, preparation or instruction from an elder, a transition (in the case of adolescence, from child to adult), and a welcoming back into society with acknowledgment of the adolescent 's changed status. (Delaney, 1995)Todays youth have much more advantages than the generations past with the technological advances that have occurred in the world. For the separation process of the rites of passage, I would remove the teenagers from the cell phones, internet, television, and video games. Taking the teens out of his or her normal environment and placing them…

Most teenagers experience peer pressure - conformity to thoughts, actions, and appearance of others. Individuals are alike in all different ways even if it is not noticeable. How does such fear of isolation lead to conformity? A piece of clothing may not be one's style, but everyone else owns it so one would feel obligated to acquire a piece.
