The reason why I chose to give Blue Sargent, from The Raven Boys, the “feminist” award is because there isn’t a moment in the book where Blue chooses to believe that one gender is superior to another, and if someone else thinks that, she’ll always correct them. Blue hangs out with a group of four other boys throughout their adventures and you can see straight off the bat from when they first met that Blue doesn't find herself inferior to them in any way. When Gansey asks Blue to go over and talk to his friend, Adam, and she refuses, he offers to pay her for it. Of course, Blue doesn’t take it. She instead moves on to teach him a lesson, saying, “You think you can just pay me to talk to your friend? Clearly you pay most of your female companions…

Little did this man know that he would play a very significant role in the creation of a new world much like the one that he currently lived in. Torr was called into action when the Kinship found where he and many others were hiding. Only a few escaped the raid. He fled to a small and seemingly insignificant cave, which is now known as the Sakriya Caves. Inside those caverns is where Torr began to realize his role in the creation of the material world, for the Sakriya Caves is where Torr began his fierce battle with the visions of the many souls that were trapped within the gemstone-laden walls of the caves. As he caught glimpses of many lives and a myriad of diverse locations, his body began to deteriorate. By the time Torr left the caves, most of his skin had eroded away, leaving the weakened muscles and frail bones that remain. When Torr reemerged from the Sakriya Caves, the Grey Kinship had conquered all of Wisteria and Kaisog held the reigns to a very strict regime. It is said that the great sorrow that Torr felt in learning this is what conjured the gold chain into existence. Regardless of what is fact and what is myth, it is known to all that Torr took the chain directly to the enormous palace of Kaisog, where he solely defeated the guards of the tower, before…

Around a fireplace sit eager ears, hungry for the most exciting and creepy stories available to the human imagination. Christmas eve in England annual include stories full of ambiguity, frightening characters and most importantly of all, ghosts. Henry James wrote a tale that would be perfect to tell in this setting. His novel, Turn of the Screw is the quintessential ghost story. He includes all the necessary elements, but perhaps his best talent is in creating ambiguity. Fro some readers it is not exactly clear whether or not the governess is clinically insane or if the ghosts that haunt Blye are real. However, James does provide enough information to prove that the ghosts are real and not imagined by giving details confirmed by the housekeeper, showing the children’s relationship with them, and finally, in Miles’ death.…
