What Is Henry's Daughters Case Study
This essay is a review of Henry’s daughters’ case study. The short film tells a story of how Henry- a professional engineer and a semi-retired lobbyist- and his friend Jeff wanted to bring a major change in the transportation industry by introducing automated transport (Martin, P. 2010). This was a great initiative to improve the state of transportation and had great benefits even for the future generations. The problem arose with the way they planned to bring the initiative to life by violating the rules of conduct ethics of the engineering profession. Julie using the information she obtained unduly to install the software for OUTOCAR was both unprofessional and unethical for an engineer. Engineers are expected to perform services in the areas of their qualification, knowledge and competence, and stealing of ideas is a serious offence to the rules of conduct ethics for the engineering profession (Government Gazette. 2013). Marty appeared not to have the necessary skills when he was installing the OUTOCAR equipment, and this was another clear violation of the rules of conduct. As the consequences of not adhering to the rules of conduct, Henry was suspended for 2 years and his license was revoked, and also lost his fortune (Martin, P. 2010). Violation of the code of conduct results in consequences such losing license to practice the profession, being fined a certain amount or facing imprisonment. It appears from the short film that Henry’s daughters went unpunished even though they also violated the rules of conduct ethics. This then raises a question of whether the investigation was about the violation of ethics or a fight against Henry as he was the only one punished while the others go on with the working life with no consequences to
