What Is Homeland Security?
Homeland security main role is to ensure safety in America. It is involved in passing laws and regulations, fighting crimes, prevention of terrorism and writing of policies. Homeland security protects the American citizens from security threats by directing every available resource towards preparedness and possible prevention of these attacks. It is their responsibility to create awareness to the people, give warnings of possible attacks and how to stay safe. The group further is involved in protection of U.S borders which includes the Southern and Northern borders and air and sea ports (Schmalleger, 2013).
