I eat rice just about everyday, and my Liberian accent has been in practice for most of my childhood. My family came from Liberia as the result of the wars. I always think of where I would be if I was brought up in Liberia. I am very happy and grateful to have the opportunities I do. I am a proud Ivorian-Liberian-French-American.

Finding out about my roots and culture, has really helped me to have a better sense or who I am, and researching alone has helped me gain a lot of perspective. I will never forget to go back and try to build Liberia up. Though I’m not the most privileged kid, I can accurately say that my Liberian counterpart is extremely disadvantaged compared to me. There’s not a day when I don’t think about how lucky I am, I’ve had an amazing life so far. When I think about that, I realize that I am truly lucky to be who I
