As stated beforehand “something is rotten in the state of Denmark”, which is very prevalent throughout the whole play. From alcoholism, corruption, and straight-forward murder, all these vices plague the state of Denmark. Hamlet directly stated that he thinks Denmark is full of “drunken swine” which is not a trait any Country wishes to possess. Alcoholism is a vice which inflicts many people, yet not him. Hamlet stands true and does not let this vice corrupt his intentions of creating a better Denmark, which shows his integrity and moral standings. The corruption which infects the hierarchy of Denmark, essentially plagues the whole Country. Hamlet by fighting this corruption shows his dedication to his integrity and Country, showing that he is very patriotic. Lastly, the assassination of Hamlet’s father with no criminal to hold accountable. Hamlet hunts down who is responsible and opposed to killing the culprit on a hunch, he verifies their guilt, this shows that he is lawful and believes in justice and fairness. These traits integrity, patriotism, and lawfulness all demonstrate that Hamlet possesses traits in which would allow him to tackle these problems head
