The division of labor is what creates the roles and hierarchy that exist in society. The group of capitalists were able to utilize the poor working class to their advantage, and Marx encouraged “to overthrow the existing order and substitute collective control of society by the people,” in order for the weaker majority to be free. (Turner, Pg. 73) Marx continues on with conflict by pointing out that “the members of different classes are enemies because they have opposing interests.” (Turner, Pg. 79) The groups that are at the bottom of the social hierarchy are more willing to look for opportunities in order to alter the status quo if their needs are not satisfied or met.
