What Is The Contextual Analysis Of The Song 7 Years By Lukas Graham
It is often difficult to find songs in popular culture that depict a normal sense of human development and behavior. We have become accustomed to being fascinated by abnormal development and behavior, as is reflect in the media of today. One current song that I feel speaks to the idea of normal human development and behavior is the song, “7 Years” by Lukas Graham. I believe that this song does a good job of outlining societal expectations over the course of the lifespan.

The first age that is mentioned in the song is seven years. A quote from this part of the song that speaks to human development is, “Once I was seven years old, my mama told me, ‘Go make yourself some friends or you’ll be lonely’.” When we are young, it is considered “normal

“Will you let me go for Christ’s sake? Will you take that phony dream and burn it before something happens?” (Act II). Why is this particular line so important? These words were coming from a frustrated and broken Biff Loman towards his father Willy Loman. This very quote portrays both sides of a contradicting theme: the concept of selfishness vs. selfishness. Willy Loman’s selfish character in comparison to his son Biff’s selfishness presents opposing characteristics that together end in tragedy. These concepts along with the idea of identity were observed in Arthur Miller’s, Death of a Salesman.…

In William Shakespeare's "Romeo and Juliet" the two main characters go to great lengths for love. The main characters reject their parents strong disapproval for their relationship and continue to be with one another. Like Shakespeare's "Romeo and Juliet" Feld, the main character, in Bernard Malamud's "The First Seven Years", ignores and later resents the fact that Sobel, his employee, is in love with his only daughter, Mariam. Feld believes that Mariam deserves a boy who is well educated and financially stable. Even though Sobel has little formal education or wealth, he still offers what he does have to Mariam, his soul. Throughout "The First Seven Years" Malamud exhibits many literary devices such as symbolism, setting, and epiphany in order set up a well rounded theme for the reader. That a parents desires for his child is not necessarily what the child desires or needs.…

My contemporary song choice that I have chosen is “Apple tree” by Erykah Badu. The song illustrates on friendship. This song is about an awakening to self-discovery, Being true to yourself and having true friendships; however those who are not Erykah states “You don't want to pick from my apple tree. I picks my friends like I pick my fruit. I don't walk around trying to be what I'm not; I don't waste my time trying to get what you got. I work at pleasin' me cause I can't please you and that's why I do what I do” (Badu). Sometimes we often question our identity, motives and why we do the things we do which is called socialism, which identifies idealism. In the world today, society suffers from peer pressure and finding oneself and I truly believe…
