What Is The Difference Between Government Checks And Balances
The framers created a system of checks and balances in order to prevent the government from becoming too powerful. The federal government was separated into three branches- The Judicial Branch, The Legislative Branch, and the Executive Branch. These branches are designed to keep each other in check. For example, the legislative branch watches the executive branch. If they suspected that the president was overstepping his power, they could enforce constitutional guidelines.
Along with this, there are term limits in every branch, apart from the judicial branch (judges are appointed by the president, who the people have placed in office). This ensures that the people will always have a voice in government matters.
