Nicola Sacco was born in Toricmaggiore on April 22, 1891. He immigrated to the United States at the age of 17. He got a job in a shoe factory in Stoughton, Massachusetts. He was part of the left-wing politics and met Bartolomeo Vanzetti in Boston. Vanzetti was born in Vallafalletto, Italy and was also an immigrant from Italy. They became close friends when they met each other at one of their left-wing meetings. When the United States went into war, Sacco and Vanzetti with the rest of the left-wing fled to Mexico to try and avoid the army. They returned back to the United States when the was ended. They then questioned several Italian immigrants and ended up arrested Sacco and Vanzetti. It was said they didn’t have any crime records but they argued that they committed the robbery to acquire funds for their anarchist political campaign. On May 5, 1920 they were interviewed and arrested. The main evidence agents them was they were both carrying guns when they were arrested. People told the authorities they saw them two men commit the robbery. Both of the men had good alibis but they had a disadvantage by not knowing the English language well. The prosecutors didn’t like their religious beliefs. And it was inappropriate behavior by fleeing the country and accused by unpatriotic for fleeing to Mexico. A man named Celestino Madeiros, an immigrant from Portuguese confessed that he was part of the gang that killed Frederick Parmenter and Alessandro Berardelli in 1925. Celestino also named a couple of the other gang members that committed the crime but one that stuck out the most was the Morelli brothers. The Morelli brothers were well known criminals in the state of Massachusetts. After he confused the authorities refused to investigate Celestino
