What Is The Importance Of Thank College Players For Play-Off Success Essay

In “Thank College Players for Play-off Success” the Editorial Board talks about how the player in college sports get the least amount of money. They state that “Television networks are making a mint. Coaches are pulling in obscene sums. Bowl associations are living large. And all of them owe some of their fortune to the low labor costs for people who matter most: the players.” The source says that many people say that the players are being payed with a great education, but some don’t even want that education because they want to play sports. This source also gives example of things we could do instead of putting them on payroll. For example, taking better care of the players, shortening the season, and offer scholarships that cover every aspect of attending college. They state that “These ideas would cost money. They might prompt some colleges to drop football. For that reason, schools would balk. But they're already extracting too much from players for too little.”
I thought the way they put that sentence was very interesting because it gave more feeling and power to the conclusion that education is not needed when you are playing a sport. The author's word choice made the sentence more interesting to me because it changed the tone of the sentence. When they used invaluable it changed the whole sentence because to some people a free education is everything, but to others a free education is nothing. It made me think about how there are so many people who want that free education, but the people getting that education are people who don’t want
