What Is The Mexican War Justifiable

The U.S war with Mexico continues to be a divisive topic all through America classes. The American and Mexican war was a 2 year conflict that began in 1846.At the end of end the war the U.S ended up with more land than before. Although the United States war against Mexico maybe viewed as controversial,, the war was just due to Texas needed the U.S, Government of Mexico, and violence towards Americans. Generally speaking the war was justifiable due to Texas needing the U.S. Texas only had two small forces, one had 400 people. “On February 23, 1836 Santa Ana’s troops surrounded San Antonio.The next day Mexicans began their siege on the Alamo.” Now if Texas would have been part of the U.S the Alamo when have had great protection. Also “Houstan’s army doubled… volunteers from the U.S.” Texas needed the U.S to double the numbers of their troops. Who knows what would have happened without the U.S. After all Texas needed the U.S.
In addition the war was just because the Mexican government wasn’t fair.
Even the laws were unfair. “First, it closed the state to further Americans immigration. Next it required Texans to pay taxes for the first time.” The government made the Texans pay taxes which they weren't used to, therefore causing angry protests. ” When a government has ceased to protect the lives, Liberty, and property of the people it is the right of the people to abolish such a government and create another one that will secure their future welfare and happiness. ”The people wanted to have a good government that does their job, so Texas wanted to be a part of the U.S. For these reasons are why the U.S was justified in the
war. After all the war was just because Mexico started Violence towards Americans. ¨ On April 25th 1846 a Mexican Cavalry unit crossed the Rio Grande. They ambushed an American Patrol and killed or wounded 16 American Soldiers.¨ The Mexican Cavalry unit shed American blood on American soil which the Americans didn't even do anything towards the Mexicans. Americans were also in the Alamo when it got burned down. Therefore being another reason forcing America to go to war. Once again another reason why the U.S was justifiable in the Mexican and American war. All those that see the war as unjust will argue Manifest Destiny was the reason the Americans were unjust. Due to manifest destiny the U.S now has big territory, which means a lot of people want to be the US's allie. The U.S gained the states such as California, New Mexico, Oregon, Texas, Nevada, Utah, Arizona, and etc. In the end the U.S was justifiable in the war against Mexico. For this reason is why the U.S is just. In conclusion even though the U.S war against Mexico might be viewed controversial the war was just due to Texas needed the U.S, Government of Mexico, and violence towards Americans. The war was just in the end because Texas needed help after the Alamo, the Mexican Government made unfair laws, and the Mexican unit hurt 16 American soldiers. As a result today we have a more fair government, a big country so lots of troops, and many allies.
