I read the book Cinder by Marissa Meyer. This book is the first book of The Lunar Chronicles. The most interesting part of the book was that the author put a lot of twists and turns at the end. My least favorite part of the book was when the main character, Cinder, had witness her stepsister’s death. The author wanted us to learn do not judge from the outside but judge what is on the inside. I like this book because the author puts twist on the Cinderella story. Other student would like this book by how the story is in the future. My question, ’’Is she going to escape?”…

In The Secret Life of Bees, Sue Monk Kidd alludes to the first lunar landing to communicate that the mystery of the moon is more intriguing than its discovery. For example, August explains her distress when she hears of Ranger 7’s mission to the moon: “‘Now it won’t ever be the same, not after they’ve landed up there and walked around on her [the moon]. She’ll be just one more big science project’” (114). August further explains that the moon is fascinating because of its ambiguity, and now that humans have access to it, the moon’s mystery is uncovered. Thus, the reality of scientific discoveries replaces the mystical beauty that the previously untouched moon once held. On July 31, 1964, Ranger 7 lands on the moon and sends pictures back to…

She is going to Europe to find a woman who will guide her through her journey and knows her secret about being Princess Selene (Meyer pg 182). On this journey Cinder goes through many problems like almost getting caught by Kai’s troops, and she almost killed herself hooking herself into her spaceships auto control system in order to prevent it from crashing (Meyer pg. 183 & 243). Ruby Moon written by Matt Cameron in 2003 is a presentational non-realistic, contemporary Australian drama with representational elements in reference to its development of characters. The style is also that of a psychodrama as it exposes the gargantuan holes in Ray and Sylvie’s state of mind as the story unfolds their psychological flaws become more and more conspicuous to the audience. It also takes on the style of an absurdist drama as this means that a realistic lifestyle is portrayed in the text although in an unrealistic or exaggerated (presentational) way.…

Lunar phase (or Moon phase) refers to the appearance of the illuminated portion of the Moon as seen by an observer, usually on Earth. The lunar phases vary cyclically as the Moon orbits the Earth, according to the changing relative positions of the Earth, Moon, and Sun. One half of the lunar surface is always illuminated by the Sun (except during lunar eclipses), and is hence bright, but the portion of the illuminated hemisphere that is visible to an observer can vary from 100% (full moon) to 0% (new moon). The boundary between the illuminated and unilluminated hemispheres is called the terminator. The lunar effect is a theory which overlaps into sociology, psychology and physiology suggesting that there is correlation between specific stages of the Earth 's lunar cycle and deviant behavior in human beings. It is a pseudoscientific theory, however. The claims of a correlation of lunar phases to human behavior do not hold up under scientific scrutiny. Over the past 30 years, even more evidence has emerged to stress that this is pseudoscience. The theory is sometimes also referred to as the Transylvanian hypothesis or the Transylvanian effect in scholarly literature. The notion behind the lunar effect has fascinated many behavioralists and warranted many experiments and studies. Most experiments, however, have found no correlation between the variables and, thus, refuted the theory. There are some studies which have results the researchers claimed supported the theory. For example, a study concluded that schizophrenic patients…

For the Lunar/Earthling conflict to be resolved in Cinder, it is almost certain that political negotiations, a major death, then a war, will occur during the climax and falling action. Primarily, several small discussions have occurred amongst individual parties and brief cross-party encounters, which leads one to think that both sides have a strong unwillingness to compromise. As a result of this unwillingness to agree, and the fact that both sides have hinted at the desire to officially meet, a conflict will likely arise from such a political discussion, one that may not end until the death of a leader occurs, perhaps in war. Such an important death will likely occur since the author has foreshadowed that a Lunar heir will rise, which…

At the beginning of the story, Moon was isolated from the others around her due to her unusual ethnic background. She was under humiliation and discrimination because of her Chinese American identity. The isolation she faced was inter-ethnic. She was viewed as an outcast in a foreign country even she has immigrated to America and become an authorized citizen there. The majority of her feeling of isolation is from the unequal treatment of the racist. This means the isolation she facing was between two ethnic groups: the Chinese American and the local American.…
