What is writing?
Journal 1: What is writing?

Writing is a way to communicate with people and it is used every day whether you are writing a paper or just writing down a phone number. Knowing how to write your name or the date is a very important thing, especially when you are a student. Almost every day I write my name or the date on some paper or assignment. Over the past couple years there is technology coming out that it is not necessary to write. Such as texting, emailing or typing stuff on the computer. Writing is so important because it is used on a daily basis. Without writing we would not have the books that we use to learn things. If we didn’t have books it would make things more difficult because we would have to remember everything that someone told us and wouldn’t be able to go back to the book to look things up. In school, teachers give you papers, journals and other writing assignments to improve our writing skills.

Writing is a way that I use to communicate with people sometimes. Although, I find myself texting and emailing more than writing. The only time I really write anymore is for college assignments like papers and journals. I feel that writing should be used more. Even if it is writing a paragraph every day to keep for yourself. All the text books in school and the books I just read for enjoyment would never exist if there was no such thing as writing. I am also glad there was something for me to go back to when I was in school and I needed help with something in class or didn’t remember something the teacher said. Writing should be a part of everyone’s everyday routine.
