My current view of what it means to be a registered nurse is all the nurse applicants including internationally qualified applicants should undertake English language proficiency test before register and work in this profession (Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia 2011;). Besides that, I have found out that all registered nurses should undergo criminal history check to provide information to their future employer for further assessment (Australian Federal Police 2014; Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia 2010).

This is a part of the Stripling Model of Inquiry and I am able to connect to self and gain the background knowledge of being a registered nurse. I have realised that I knew the initial understanding of being a registered nurse by my own experience as I was hospitalised for a few times since young but that is just only a general understanding of what a nurse does.
