What LDRSHIP Means

The army has values that every soldier is expected to follow and understand. The values are loyalty, duty, respect, selfless service, honor, integrity, and personal courage; also, known as LDRSHIP. “Soldiers learn these value in detail during Basic Training from then on, they live them everyday in everything they do, whether they’re on the job or off.” (Army,1) A virtuous person follows this standards without even trying to do so. People do not have to be in the military to follow these standards anyone is capable of having: loyalty, duty, respect, selfless service honor, integrity, and personal courage. What do these values mean and how can you began to follow them? The first value is loyalty; loyalty means “faithful to a cause, ideal, custom, institution, or product.” (Webster, 668) Loyalty in the military is having faith and allegiance to the constitution, the army, and the United States Citizens. Loyal soldiers respect and follow their leadership in any and every situation. They express their loyalty through wearing their uniform and doing their share to serve and protect their country. How can we follow in the Army’s footstep to show our loyalty? Loyalty
LDRSHIP is something that all soldiers learn at basic training and everyone should learn in life. People who follow LDRSHIP are virtues people. Soldiers are expected to follow LDRSHIP which is loyalty, duty, respect, selfless service, honor, integrity, and personal courage. People show loyalty by being faithful to a cause; do their duties to the fullest. Respect their leaders in every situation; be selfless in the services they perform. Have honor by following the values of LDRSHIP. Show integrity in moral and legal actions, and have person courage in adversity and physical combat.
