The drawbacks are:
1) The technical challenges associated with introducing a new technology like 3D printing to the medical field.
2) Market acceptance of the orthotics.

What makes Andiamo Different?
Andiamo not only creates perfectly tailored 3D-printed braces but also reduces the wait time to receive those braces. The two major differentiating factors of Andiamo braces over the traditional ones are:
• Accuracy of braces to within 3mm.
• Delivery within 48 hours reducing wait time and the potential discomfort.
The measurement for the brace is a 30 seconds- 1-minute process that involves 3D scanning the part of the body the brace is required for. The measurements taken in the scan is then digitized in the laptop. This data is then sent to a 3D printing company or an orthotics company that 3D prints the orthotic in 48 hours.
The table below summarizes the differences between the traditional method and the Andiamo method.

Where a condition or person isn’t suitable for 3D scanning we will use traditional techniques but then turn that into a 3D model to ensure consistency.
This will not compromise overall quality but will be slower than the techniques we want to use.
Market Challenges
We are taking on big incumbent companies that control the market in the UK and globally. Having spoken to them extensively made it clear to us that their approach to accommodate patient experience does not match ours. When we have asked them when was the last time they had spoken to a patient? Their answer was: "We haven't".
Whilst they have scale, we are taking the approach of building a service that is designed with people whom their lives are affected by the need to use these products.
This will not be easy but we are obsessed with making disabled children's lives better.
Andiamo is currently facing the challenge of 3D scanning the patients, since sometimes the condition of the person is not suitable for such a scan. They are trying to seek a balance between traditional and 3D printing methods without compromising on quality. They are also concerned about the market competition with big incumbent companies and are extensively seeking
